About The Foundation

Kevin Kriston was a young man who lit up a room when he entered one. He was charismatic, and had an infectious smile and personality that positively touched so many people in a multitude of ways. Kevin was a natural born leader and a giving young man, who made loyal friends quickly and excelled in academics. He had special talents in finance, which he had a strong passion and aptitude for, and served as treasurer for his fraternity in college. An avid fan of Chicago sports, Kevin closely followed the Bears, Cubs, Bulls and Hawks. He was even interviewed by a local radio station during a pre-game in 2014, which can be seen below:

On Sunday, August 17, 2014, Kevin tragically passed away. The loss of this promising young man has left a void in the hearts of all the lives he profoundly touched in his brief 23 years on this Earth. His family decided shortly after his passing that they must do something to keep his beautiful spirit alive – so that others could know who he was and learn about the impact he had on those around him. The Kevin “Big Kat” Kriston Foundation was established to perpetuate Kevin’s memory and legacy by providing continuing education.

Kevin regularly advised his high school and college friends on saving and investing their money. The goals of the Kevin “Big Kat” Kriston Foundation were developed using his mantra “Make money, save money, invest money and have fun with your money!” Funds raised through the foundation will provide scholarships for high school and college students, so they can pursue their dream of higher education like Kevin, and help them to Make Money, create and support educational programs that focuses on teaching students the importance of Saving and Investing Money, and promote awareness of using a buddy system to stay safe when Having Fun with Your Money!

Through these initiatives, the Kevin “Big Kat” Kriston Foundation will honor Kevin’s passion for finance and his spirit for life by continuing to impact the lives of others that he most certainly would have in his own lifetime.
